Shamrock Shuffle 5K – Anchorage, AK

The 2024 Shamrock Shuffle 5K, will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2024, in Anchorage, Alaska. The race benefits Running Free Alaska and helps raise awareness for and focuses on providing running opportunities for women who are currently or have been incarcerated at Hiland Mountain Correctional Center, the sole women’s prison in Alaska.

The 5K race begins at 9:30 am. The event activities are centered around the Bear Tooth Grill parking lot, and the start and finish line are located on 27th Ave.

Participants will receive a fresh beanie, a stylish pint *glass, and a $10 Bear Tooth voucher usable through the end of March. Bring your ID if you plan to enjoy an adult beverage on the event day. Post-race awards will be presented, with prizes thrown out to the crowd from the big stage. The Grill dining room opens at 10:00 am for regular food and drink service, offering Grab-N-Go breakfast burritos in the theatre foyer. Stick around for enjoyable post-event moments in the Theatre.

Course Information:

The Shamrock Shuffle starts on 27th Ave., heading towards Spenard Road. Participants turn left onto Spenard Road, proceeding north to Hillcrest Drive, where they take a left. Following Hillcrest Drive to Forrest Park Drive, they turn right, followed by another right onto Wood Worth Circle. Descending the hill to the Coastal Trail, participants turn right on the bridge, then take the next right by Westchester Lagoon onto the Chester Creek Trail. Before the first tunnel, turn right up the West High Hill, retracing the route back to Hillcrest Drive. Turn left and reverse the earlier run back to the Bear Tooth.

Packet Pickup:

To avoid lines on the event day, participants can collect their shirts and bibs before the race. Virtual participants can request packet mailing during registration.

Parking:

Parking for the Shamrock Shuffle is available at West High School, with additional options at the old La Mex building and the south Chilkoot Charlie’s parking lot. Access to these lots may be impacted starting at 7:30 a.m. due to Spenard Rd course closures as the race start approaches.
