ShamRock & Roll 5K

The ShamRock & Roll 5K, the largest St. Patrick’s Day-themed road race in Connecticut, will take place on Sunday, March 17th, 2024, at 9:00 am at Toad’s Place in New Haven, Connecticut. Participants are encouraged to don their most creative St. Patrick’s Day costumes, with awards slated for both the best individual and group ensembles. Additionally, distinctions will be given to the shortest, tallest, and slowest finishers.
While joining in the festive spirit, runners contribute to a charitable cause, as the race serves as a fundraiser for The Diaper Bank of Connecticut. Donations can be made during the registration process, and there will be opportunities to contribute diapers at both packet pickup and on race day.
Limited to 1500 participants, the event guarantees a long-sleeve tech tee for each entrant. The 5K course unfolds on a flat route, commencing from the Payne Whitney Gym at Yale University, traversing Whitney Avenue and East Rock, and culminating in front of Toad’s Place.
Following the race, the celebration continues at Toad’s Place, where participants can revel in an awards ceremony, a lively costume contest, live music, and a selection of food and beverages. Those aged 21 and older can also enjoy the availability of beer.

Parking
Roads close around 9:00 am. You can park on the streets for free since meters don’t run on Sundays. Best places to park are Broadway, York Street, and Elm Street. Get there early to avoid any stress on race day.
