Glass City Marathon, Half Marathon, 5K

The Mercy Health 2024 Glass City Marathon and Half Marathon is set to happen on 28th of April, 2024, while the 5K will take place earlier on the 27th. Organized by Destination Toledo, this event provides an ideal mix of athletic challenge and social interaction, guaranteeing a memorable experience for all who take part.

The event, renowned as one of the swiftest marathon tracks in the Midwest and frequently recording Boston Qualifying times for about a third of its participants, offers a unique 26.2-mile single-loop route.

This course takes runners from the University of Toledo through its charming historic suburbs, past the acclaimed Wildwood Metropark, and along the University Parks Trail, culminating in a spectacular finish inside the Glass Bowl Stadium at the university’s core.

 

2024 Race Details

The marathon’s start time is set for 6:30 AM, with the route beginning on Bancroft Street near the University of Toledo’s North Tower. It circles the campus, passes by Ottawa Park, and then heads west into the picturesque neighborhood of Ottawa Hills.

With minimal elevation changes and smooth, well-maintained roads, this course consistently yields some of the fastest race times in the USA. The marathon has a strict 6.5-hour time limit and is capped at 2,000 runners.

Meanwhile, the half marathon shares the same start time with the marathon, beginning on Bancroft Street adjacent to the University of Toledo North Tower. This route encircles the campus before heading west through the scenic Ottawa Hills. However, the half marathon has a strict 3.5-hour time limit and is limited to 3,000 runners.

Lastly, the 5K begins at 8:30 AM. Starting on Bancroft Street outside the University of Toledo, the route moves west towards Secor Road and concludes inside the Glass Bowl Stadium on campus. This event has a 70-minute time limit, equating to an approximate pace of 22:35 per mile, and is limited to 1,750 runners.

 

Packet Pick-Up

The Mercy Health Glass City Marathon’s expo and packet collection will span two days, occurring on Friday, April 26th, and Saturday, April 27th, at Savage Arena situated on the University of Toledo campus. To obtain their race bib at packet pickup, participants must present the registration barcode, which can be found in the confirmation email.

Registration

Marathon: $100 + $7 registration fee
Note: Increases to $115 after the first 1250 people register.

Half Marathon: $75 + $5.50 registration fee
Note: Increases to $90 after the first 1500 people register.

5K: $30 + $2.80 registration fee
Note: Increases to $40 after the first 250 people register.
