San Francisco Marathon, Half Marathon, 10k and 5k

The San Francisco Marathon will be held on Sunday, July 28, 2024, at various locations in San Francisco, California. The race features a marathon, 1st half marathon, 2nd half marathon, 10k, and 5k.
Participants for the 5k race have the option to run on Saturday, July 27th.
All participants will receive a technical fabric long-sleeved shirt, and finishers will be rewarded with a finisher’s medal, an electronic certificate, refreshments, a heat sheet, and medical assistance.
To earn Official Finisher status, participants must complete the course within the specified time limit for each race. Water stops along the routes will provide water, Nuun electrolytes, medical support, and toilets. Shuttle buses will be available for runners at specific locations and times designated for each race.
San Francisco Marathon
Date: Sunday, July 28, 2024
Time: 5:15 a.m.
Start: Embarcadero at Mission
Finish: Embarcadero at Folsom
Distance: 26.2 miles
Fee: $275.49
Certification: USATF certified Full Marathon, a Boston Marathon and Olympic Time Trials qualifying race.
Run Highlights:
- Breathtaking views from the Golden Gate Bridge.
- Pass iconic parks, neighborhoods, and sports stadiums.
- Positive energy from spectators along the Bay Bridge.
Other Details:
- Last Northbound runner (East sidewalk) accesses the Golden Gate Bridge by 7:40 a.m., and the last Southbound runner (West sidewalk, Dillingham Lot) by 8:50 a.m. to reopen sidewalks to the public.
- The Full Marathon has 14 water stops where you can find water, Nuun Electrolytes, medical, and toilets. Water stops 6 and 10 will have Chargel Energy gel. All water stops will have water monster refill stations.
- If you are getting a ride in on race day, the closest drop-off point will be Mission at Main St. or Washington St. at Drum St.
First Half Marathon
Date: Sunday, July 28, 2024
Time: 6:30 a.m.
Start: Presidio, adjacent to Crissy Field Sports Basement (shuttle info below)
Finish: Golden Gate Park, on JFK at the Rose Garden
Distance: 13.1 miles with a 3-hour time limit.
Fee: $270.49
Certification: USATF-certified 1st Half Marathon

Other Details:
- Runner Shuttle Buses operate every 5-10 minutes from 4:30 am to 5:45 am, picking up at Howard and Spear St. and dropping off at the Bridge Half Marathon start line at Halleck and Mason St. Shuttles are also available from the Golden Gate Park finish line back to the Main Finish Line Festival on the Embarcadero.
- The 1st Half Marathon has 7 water stops offering water, Nuun electrolytes, medical assistance, and toilets. Water Stop 5 includes Chargel energy gel, and all stops have water monster refill stations.
- For drop-off at the start line, the ideal location is Lincoln Blvd between Montgomery St and Anza Ave in The Presidio. Pick up after the 1st Half Marathon Finish is on Funston St. at Fulton St.
Second Half Marathon
Date: Sunday, July 28, 2024
Time: 8:15 a.m.
Start: Presidio, 610 Old Mason St. (see shuttle info below)
Finish: Embarcadero at Folsom (Full Marathon finish line)
Distance: 13.1 miles with a 3.5-hour time limit.
Fee: $201.99
Certification: The 2nd Half Marathon course is USATF-certified.
Run Highlights:
- The 2nd Half “City” Marathon winds through iconic neighborhoods, finishing at the official San Francisco Marathon Finish Line. With a later start time and a faster route, runners have more time for festivities.
- Highlights include Crissy Field, Golden Gate Bridge, refreshing Bay breezes, Sea Cliff neighborhood, Golden Gate Park, Haight Street, Mission District, Mission Bay District, and views of major league sports stadiums.
Other Details:
- Runner Shuttle Buses operate from 6:45 am to 7:30 am, picking up near the Embarcadero at Howard St. and Spear St., and dropping off at the City Half Marathon start line at Halleck and Mason St. in the Presidio.
- The 2nd Half Marathon has 10 water stops offering water, Nuun electrolytes, medical aid, and toilets. Water Stop 5 includes Chargel energy gel, and all stops feature water monster refill stations.
- Runner Shuttle Buses operate from 6:45 am to 7:30 am, picking up at Howard St. and Spear St. near the Embarcadero in 5 to 10-minute intervals. They drop off at the 2nd Half Marathon start line at Halleck and French Ct in the Presidio.
The Alexi Pappas SFM 10k

Start: The Embarcadero near Mission St.
Finish: Embarcadero at Washington
Distance: Flat 10k course (6.2 miles)

- Run with your dog, adhering to the rules. Find doggy aid stations at the finish line equipped with water. Dogs can join for free without prior registration.
- The 10K includes 3 water stops with water, Nuun electrolytes, medical care, and toilets.
The San Francisco Marathon Saturday 5K Fun Run

Distance: Flat 3.1 Mile course (Course time limit is 1 hour)

Run Highlights:
- The race route is along the waterfront with views of the SF Bay, Alcatraz Island, and the Golden Gate Bridge. More course highlights and details coming soon!
Other Details:
- This is a fun run without official timing. The course will be open for 1 hour.
- The Saturday 5k includes a single water stop offering water, electrolytes, energy chews, medical assistance, and toilets.

The 5K route meanders along the waterfront, providing runners with stunning vistas of the Bay, Bay Bridge, Treasure Island, and Coit Tower. Runners of varying skill levels can appreciate the swift, level course, securing a place at the finish line festival near the Ferry Building.
