Pacific Beach Half Marathon & 5k

The Pacific Beach Half Marathon & 5k will take place on Saturday, October 5th, 2024, in San Diego, California. The Half Marathon features a thrilling point-to-point race, starting at De Anza Cove in Mission Bay Park and concluding with a spectacular finish on the sandy shores of Pacific Beach. Runners will traverse a picturesque waterfront route, passing through Tecolote Shores, Hospitality Point, West Mission Bay Dr. Bridge, and Mission Beach.
The Half Marathon course is predominantly on paved pathways and closed roads, with only the final 0.2 miles on the sand for a memorable finish. Rubber mats will facilitate easy crossings over any soft sand sections. The race begins at 6:15 a.m. at De Anza Cove, leading participants through a scenic journey around Mission Bay, including landmarks like Fiesta Island Park. The course is supported by six fully stocked aid stations to keep runners fueled and hydrated.
Participants in the event will receive a Pacific Beach tank top, a custom finisher’s medal, official chip timing, complimentary race day photos, a post-race drink ticket, and, as a bonus, custom SDRC sunglasses! Don’t miss out on this opportunity for an epic finish for the ages in Pacific Beach.

Bib/Shirt Pick-Up Options:
Mail My Packet: Ensure a stress-free experience by opting to have your packet mailed directly to you. The deadline for this service is September 22, 2024, and the cost is $15 plus processing fees. Click HERE to make your purchase and avoid the hassle of driving.
Packet Pick-Up #1: On Thursday, October 3rd, the first packet pick-up will take place at a location to be confirmed soon. Details regarding the time are also pending. This convenient service is provided at no cost.
Packet Pick-Up #2: A second packet pick-up is scheduled for Friday, October 4th, with the location and time awaiting confirmation. Similar to the first pick-up, this option is offered free of charge.
Event Day – Half Marathon Participants: For those participating in the Half Marathon on Saturday, October 5th, event day bib pick-up will be available at the Start Line in De Anza Cove, 3000 N. Mission Bay Dr., San Diego, CA 92109, from 5:00a to 6:00a. The cost for this service is $20 and covers the bib only; tank tops will be provided at the finish line.
Event Day – 5K Participants: On the same day, 5K participants and Kids Run participants have a designated pick-up area at the Start Line, 700 Thomas Ave (on the beach), San Diego, CA 92109. Early wave pick-up is from 5:45a to 6:30a, the main wave is from 8:30a to 9:45a, and the Kids Run pick-up is from 10:15a to 10:45a. Note that this is exclusive to 5K participants; Half Marathoners must pick up at the De Anza Cove start line.
Important Note: If you’re picking up a packet for a friend, remember to bring a copy of their photo ID or have a picture of their ID on your cell phone.
Parking and Shuttles
Half Marathon Transportation:
The Half Marathon is a point-to-point race, with the start and finish lines separated by several miles. For convenient transportation, utilize the parking and ride share/drop-off at the start line (De Anza Cove, 3000 N. Mission Bay Dr., San Diego, CA 92109). Note that there is no shuttle service back to the start line after the race, so plan accordingly.
Alternatively, if you choose the Half Marathon Only Shuttle option, park at the finish line (801 Grand Ave., San Diego, CA 92109) and take the shuttle to the start. Shuttle pick-up times are 4:45a – 5:45a, with the last departure at 5:45a. Explore paid parking lots and neighborhood parking options in Pacific Beach.
5K Transportation:
The 5K, starting and finishing at the same location (approximately 700 Thomas Ave, San Diego, CA 92109), shares its finish line with the Half Marathon. For 5K parking, use neighborhood parking or check THIS MAP for paid lots. Due to potential parking challenges before the 5K, allocate 15-30 minutes for parking and walking to the event.
