Montgomery Half Marathon and 5K

The 14th annual 2024 Montgomery Half Marathon and 5k will be held on Sunday, March 24th, 2024 at Riverwalk Stadium in Montgomery, AL. Presented by Montgomery Multisport, the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama Montgomery Half Marathon, along with the Enlisted Heritage 5K, will guide participants through the heart of Alabama’s capital city. The route encompasses various historic sites and districts, concluding with a stretch past the state capitol building.
Course Information
The half marathon will start at 7:00 A.M. while the 5K will start at 7:15. The race will commence in front of the Alley’s Water Tower in downtown Montgomery. The initial two miles involve an uphill climb, so my best advice is to run with patience and save your legs during this first segment. Burning your legs out early may lead to slower pace later.
As you progress, enjoy the sunrise, and take in your surroundings. Enjoy your run and if you are a country music fan, enjoy the tunes of Hank Williams Sr. as you pass Oakwood Cemetery around mile 3.
At approximately mile 3, you will find yourself amidst massive oak trees in Montgomery’s oldest park, Oak Park. Next you will cross over I-85 where you will get motivated by the Alabama State Marching Hornets. This will be around mile 5.
Miles 6-9 will guide you through the picturesque Old Cloverdale neighborhood, but require some energy conservation for the ascent up Perry Street at mile 10.
After crossing back over I-85, you will wind through downtown Montgomery, culminating in a moderate descent down Dexter Avenue in front of the Alabama State Capitol.
Enjoy the last mile and finish strong as you finish the race on the outfield at Riverwalk Stadium.
Packet Pickup
Packet pick up will be held on Friday, March 8, 2024, from 12 PM to 6 PM at the race expo. Both the race expo and packet pick up will take place at Riverwalk Stadium.
Aid Stations
Aid stations will be located at miles: 2, 4, 6, 9, 10 & 12. Each station will give out water and sports drink.

Parking and starting line location
Downtown offers ample parking with meters turned off, allowing parking at those without signage. Convenient parking decks within walking distance of the start/finish lines are also available. Biscuits parking lots #1-#4 can be accessed until 6:45 am via entry from Madison onto S. McDonough.
The starting line is situated at the corner of Tallapoosa Street and Coosa Street.
