Faxon Law New Haven Half Marathon, 20k, and 5k

The 47th Annual Faxon Law New Haven Road Race will be held on Monday, September 2, 2024, starting at 8:30 am on New Haven Green in New Haven, Connecticut. The event features a half marathon, 20K, and 5K, and is limited to 4,500 runners to adhere to local guidelines and ensure a safe event.

The Faxon Law New Haven Road Race proudly hosts the 20K Championship, making it the longest-running USATF National Championship. New Haven has been the venue for the Men’s Championship since 1993 and the Women’s Championship since 2006. A total of $38,550 in prize and bonus money is available for the top 20K finishers.

  • Friday, August 30: 10:00 am – 6:00 pm
  • Saturday, August 31: 10:00 am – 5:00 pm
  • Sunday, September 1: 10:00 am – 3:00 pm

Race Day:
New Haven Green (250 Temple Street, New Haven, CT)

  • Monday, September 2: 6:45 am – 8:00 am


  • Tech shirts for the first 4,500 entrants.
  • Portable toilets on the New Haven Green and along the race route.
  • The race course is entirely closed to traffic.
  • 13 aid stations on the Half Marathon/20K course, all serving UCAN Hydrate, with one serving UCAN Fuel.
  • Nearly 20 bands, DJs, and Bagpipes along the Half Marathon/20K course.
  • Mile markers and digital clocks at every mile.
  • Results posted on-site (gun time only) within 15 minutes of your finishing time. Online results are available by 2 pm with net times.
  • Discounted parking at New Haven Parking Garages on race day.

Starting at New Haven Green, the flat and fast courses wind through Yale University, East Rock Park, New Haven Green, and the scenic Westville neighborhood. This year, there are no separate starts for men and women. The Half Marathon/20K route passes by the New Haven Green at Mile 7, offering lively crowds and spectators.

The Post-Race Party offers an experience with an outdoor fitness expo featuring nutritional experts, fitness retailers, and medical personnel.

Live music by Run for Cover sets the tone on the New Haven Green. The ACES Kids Fun Zone provides entertainment with lawn games, magicians, arts & crafts, and local mascots. Refreshments include frozen custard from Shake Shack, cookies, granola bars, yogurt, bananas, oranges, and more. Courtesy of the New Haven Parking Authority, hot dogs are available. Participants aged 21 and above can also enjoy East Rock Brewing beer with two beer tickets per runner.

Additionally, there will be a bar after party at BAR New Haven (254 Crown St, New Haven, CT) following the race! BAR opens at 10:00 am on Monday. Your ticket includes two slices of pizza and a beer (for 21+). Those under 21 must be accompanied by an adult. Purchase tickets during online registration.

Faxon Law New Haven Road Race Parking

  • Runners can access reduced parking rates on Labor Day at the Temple Street Parking Garage, situated off Exit 47 at 1 Temple St., New Haven, CT.
  • Additional public parking options at regular rates can be explored here.
